FALL RIVER – State troopers and crime scene technicians were out on I-195 westbound early Tuesday, trying to determine what happened to the person found dead in the breakdown lane.

Police went to the highway at 6:05 a.m. after receiving reports of a problem.

“We are there and our crime scene service is there with the Bristol County District Attorney’s office,” said State Police Sgt. Nicole Morrell.

“It looks like someone is deceased. We have Exit 5 closed off.”

She referred further questions to the District Attorney. That is the procedure when there is a suspicious or unattended death.

At 6:45 a.m. there were a series of cruisers lined up on the right side of the highway, their blue lights bouncing off the walls of the tunnel beneath Government Center.

Traffic was passing freely by in the travel lanes.

No further information was available early Tuesday morning.
