Meet the first-ever Icelandic-spec VW Amarok AT35, designed exclusively to work as a support vehicle for winter driving experiences at the Arctic Circle. It was built by off-road specialist Arctic Trucks, and features multiple upgrades over the standard vehicle.
Among those upgrades is the 25 mm (0.98 inches) front and rear suspension lift, new flares fiber-glass wheel arches, considerably larger wheels with 315/70R17 all-terrain tires, plus larger mud flaps front and rear.
Inside, there’s a fire extinguisher, a portable generator and a cappuccino machine, believe it or not. Also included in the conversion is the VHF radio, toolbox, jack, first aid kit with defibrillator and the work light. As for what goes on underneath the hood – a 3.0-liter V6 TDI diesel engine with 224 PS does the heavy lifting.
The Amarok AT35 also boasts a 45-degree climbing ability, a payload of 1,154 kg (2,544 lbs), Hill Descent Assist and the widest load platform in its class, according to VW.

For British drivers, the standard Amarok will be able to cope with everything winter has to throw at it,” stated VW Commercial Vehicles sales exec, Nick Axtell.
“Back in the UK, the ability of our Van Centres to convert vehicles through recognised partners remains one of our unique selling points. It doesn’t matter whether that’s fitting racking for a plumber, refrigerators for a supermarket chain or something altogether more extreme like the AT35 – we are always committed to Working With You.”
