Greater Noida: Residents of Gaur City 6th Avenue in Noida Extension were forced to call the police on Monday night after the builder allegedly removed the security and housekeeping staff from the society to put indirect pressure on them to form an apartment owners’ association and take over the maintenance.
“The developer first removed three to four housekeeping personnel who were employed to clean the lobby and stairs. Later, the developer issued a directive to remove all guards from parking and lobby, thereby compromising with the security of all residents. So, we called the cops around 9 pm,” said Amarjeet Rathore, a resident.

“Following the intervention of the police, the guards were brought back by the builder. A general body meeting has been proposed by the builder on January 20 to which the residents have agreed,” said another resident.

a tussle has been going on between the flat owners and the builder for the past six months over the upkeep of the society — the builder wants to handover the maintenance to the residents but the later are reluctant to form an apartment owners’ association. There are 1,120 flats in the 6th Avenue, and 98% is occupied.

“The builder wants to handover an incomplete project, but we have put forth a 15-point list of the services that still need to be delivered, including completion certificates, approved layout plans, occupancy plans and fitness certificates. We will make an AOA only after builder agrees to our demands,” said Anita Prajapati, another resident.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the Gaurs said, “We have no intention to earn any profit by providing maintenance. It’s a unique and rare case where the developer wants to hand over the society management to the residents but they are refusing to form an association.”
