Mumbai: 40-year-old held for molesting woman at Asalpha metro station

Andheri police on Saturday arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly molesting a woman within the premises of Asalpha metro station.

The arrested person has been identified as Pravin Ramchandra Bandre, a resident of Barve Nagar in Ghatkopar.

According to the police, the 40-year-old victim is a resident of Ghatkopar. She had boarded a metro from Ghatkopar along with her nephew and sister-in-law; at around 8:30 pm, they got off at Asalpha Metro station. "Victim in her complaint has alleged that, while exiting from AFC Gate, a man who seemed to be in a tremendous rush to exit, touched her inappropriately. The victim raised an alarm after which the suspect, later identified as Bandre, tried to flee from the spot," said an officer from Andheri police station.

He added, the security guards present at the spot then apprehended Bendre.

Meanwhile, the victim called up the police control room and informed them about the incident after which a team of officers from Andheri police station rushed to the spot, police said.

"On victim's complaint, a case of molestation has been registered against Bandre on Saturday night. He was produced before a local court on Sunday which remanded him to judicial custody," the officer said.
