JAIPUR: A 10-year-old boy was killed after he fell off the roof of his Jaipur located house on Saturday evening. Rajat Tongariya, a resident of Bagrana locality under the limits of Kanota police station was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The deceased’s father, Jagdish Narayan told police that his son was at home due to vacations and spent most of the time on roof flying kites. He was alone on the roof and flying when he is said to have slipped. “It is not clear if he was killed in an attempt to catch a snapped kite or he slipped,” an official said.
The incident triggered panic in the locality with his neighbours and relatives making a dash to take him to the hospital. “He was severely injured following the fatal fall. He was undergoing treatment but could not be saved and died,” SHO Gauri Shankar said.
This is the second such death related to kite flying in the city. In Kardhani, nine-year-old Afreen died in a hospital on Thursday. She was electrocuted after she tried pulling the strings of a kite entangled on a high-tension wire.
In a similar case in Churu, a 29-year-old youth died after he fell off the roof while flying kite on Saturday. Khem Chand was so engrossed in the kite flying that he reached the edge of the roof and fell. “He was looking at the sky while flying and did not realise when he reached the edge of the terrace,” an official said, adding that Khem Chand was admitted to a local hospital where he died later on Saturday evening.
