Railways introduces special train between Saharsa and Jhusi

PATNA: The East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to run a Kumbh Mela special train (05595/05596) between Saharsa and Jhusi stations to cope with the huge rush of passengers from north Bihar.
This train will run on January 14, 20, February 3, 9, 18 and March 3. On its return journey, it will run on January 15, 21, February 4, 10, 19 and March 4 from Jhusi station via the Samastipur-Hajipur-Chhapra-Siwan-Varanasi route.
“It will leave Saharsa at 1pm and reach Jhusi the next day at 5am. On its return journey, it will leave Jhusi at 2pm and reach Saharsa at 7am the following day,” ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar said and added the load combination of the train would be of 18 coaches, including 16 general coaches and two brake vans.
Upgradation of stns: The Railway Board has approved an ambitious plan to make soft upgradation of at least 68 stations across the country as part of the new station redevelopment scheme of the railways. At least seven stations of the East Central Railway (ECR) have been shortlisted for the purpose.
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the Patna Junction, Pataliputra Junction, Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Barkakana, Sonepur, Hajipur and Bapudham Motihari have been identified for upgradation by March-end.
“The railways has started installing LED lights, constructing waiting halls and toilets, circulating areas and platforms at these stations. It is also trying to provide passenger amenities and maintain cleanliness on platforms,” Kumar said, adding it was possible only when passengers cooperated with the railways.
Trains get stoppages: The railways has decided to provide stoppage to the Patna-Kota Express at Bihta and the Patna-Sasaram passenger at Sadisopur under the Danapur division of the ECR from January 14. Besides, all mail and express trains will stop for a minute at Allahabad City and Jhusi stations on various occasions from January 14 to 16 (Makar Sankranti), January 20 to 22 (Paush Purnima), February 2 to 6 (Amashya), February 9 to 11 (Basant Panchami), February 18 to 20 (Magh Purnima) and March 4 (Maha Shivratri).
