Ford's new Police Interceptor Utility is designed to save fuel and lives

With the debut of the new generation Ford Explorer comes and update to Ford's law enforcement vehicle. Meet the 2020 Ford police interceptor utility. Now aside from looking imposing AF, the new interceptor is more fuel efficient. It's powered by a 3.3 liter hybrid electric powertrain, though a V6 3 liter with a turbo is available. Now, the benefit of going Hybrid is a bump in fuel economy. Ford estimates around 41%. That can save police departments an estimated $3,500 a year, per vehicle, in fuel costs, and that's a lot of money. Ford also anticipates that technology will help save lives. We learn today that every interceptor's gonna roll off the lot with a wireless modem and Ford's telematic and connectivity suite. The emergency crash response in that suite can alert police departments if an officer's been in an accident and has been incapacitated so they can get out there and help him. In addition to that, it's got all t he standard cop goodies, including, lights, a siren, barf and blood proof vinyl rear seats. An anti stab plate in the back and the front seat, cop shocks, cop suspension, cop tires, you know the deal.
