2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Packs V8, Promises To Be The Most Capable Off-Road Truck

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator might have been designed to tackle Moab, but Ram is claiming its all-new Power Wagon is the “most capable production off-road truck in the industry.”

Unveiled earlier today at the North American International Auto Show, the 2019 Power Wagon is based on the Ram 2500 and is available exclusively in a crew cab configuration with a 6-foot, 4-inch bed (1,930 mm).

On the styling front, the Power Wagon is distinguished by a unique “off-road” grille and black powder-coated steel bumpers with tow hooks. The model also has a black hood decal, LED lighting units, extend fender flares and 17-inch wheels that are wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

One of the truck’s more distinctive features is the standard Warn Zeon-12 winch. Rated at 12,000 lbs (5,443 kg), the winch uses a new synthetic line that promises not to kink or fray.

The unique styling continues in the cabin as drivers will find vinyl and cloth seats with “Power Wagon” embroidery as well as embossed center sections with the tread pattern of the Goodyear tires. Customers looking for something more traditional and luxurious, can opt for black leather upholstery.

While the rest of the Heavy Duty lineup is offered with three different engines, the Power Wagon is available exclusively with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that produces 410 hp (305 kW / 415 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which is paired to a standard four-wheel drive system.

Speaking of specifications, the Power Wagon has a factory lift kit and an “Articulink” suspension with specially-tuned Bilstein shocks. Other off-road focused features include skid plates, a disconnecting sway bar and electronic-locking front and rear differentials.
