Two days ahead of the Army Day wreath laying ceremony rehearsal at the high security India Gate, a woman managed to reach close to the Amar Jawan Jyoti on Sunday morning raising slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad". The ruckus created by her immediately sent the cops and security agencies in a tizzy who then reached the location.
According to a senior police officer, the woman had pushed away the soldiers who were on duty while she raised the slogans.
"During investigation, it came to fore that the woman was mentally unstable and was shifted to a care home after examination. We have also found out that a missing report was lodged for the women in Nizamabad, Telangana," said a senior police officer.
Police said that they have informed the family members of the woman. Meanwhile a video of the woman has also circulated on social media in which she can be seen shouting "Pakistan Zindabad".
Further it can been seen that she was stopped by some soldiers from going near the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
"The officer informed about the incident to the police and she was brought to the police station and later she was identified as Sultana, a resident of Mumbai.
"We have found out that she had left for Mumbai from Telangana two days ago by train. However she didn't reach Mumbai so a missing complain was lodged. During interrogation, she revealed that she came to Delhi from Mumbai by train. She was taken for medical where the doctors found that she was mentally unstable. Meanwhile we also do not suspect anything suspicious," said Deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma .
The DCP said there was nothing suspicious about the woman and that there is no Pakistan connection. She is an Indian national, he said. He also said that it was not reported to them that the woman hurled a shoe at Amar Jawan Jyoti.The woman was shifted to a shelter home And her family members were informed as well. The family members of the woman are yet to arrive in the national capital. As per investigating officers the woman could not reveal much about herself. She only told the police that she was divorced from her husband around 12 years back. No case has been registered so far.
