A youth impersonating a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer was nabbed on Saturday.
G. Vinod Kumar of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh was apprehended by Army personnel when he was trying to enter the College of Defence Management. Upon questioning, he claimed to be a flying officer in the Indian Air Force. “Since his response and behaviour was suspicious, he was asked about his parent unit and to produce any other identity card,” Neredmet inspector A. Narasimha Swamy said.
Kumar claimed to be an assistant commandant with NIA and produced an identity card.
Officials verified about his identity with NIA’s Additional SP Mohammed Sajid and found it to be fake. A case has been registered and Kumar remanded to judicial custody.
