Death of toddler sparks police investigation in Wagga Wagga
The death of a 15-month-old boy in the state’s Riverina region is being treated as suspicious by police, who are investigating.
A report of concern for the toddler's welfare led Riverina police and emergency services to a home in Callaghan Street, Ashmont, Wagga Wagga, just after 10.45am on Sunday.
The child was found unresponsive and paramedics performed CPR at the scene before taking him to Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Officers from the Riverina Police District will investigate and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the death was "not natural causes and not SIDS".
More to come.
