Lexus is paying more attention to sport and has improved its RC F coupe, debuting an RC F Track Edition at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.

Although the whole RC F lineup has been refreshed for the 2020 model year with a tweaked design and improved performance, the standout news here is the addition of the limited production Track Edition.

All RC Fs get improved aerodynamics, a bit more power, reduced weight, a tweaked suspension, and new styling. RC Fs are powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine that’s now rated at 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, which is up 5 and 6, respectively.

Lexus has also added a standard launch control system that helps the coupe get to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are also part of the upgrades — Lexus says these new tires will help improve grip and curb understeer, something the RC F suffers from.

The new Track Edition gets a lot of carbon fiber parts designed for better aero and a big reduction in unsprung weight. A new carbon fiber front lip and fixed rear wing are lightweight parts that help increase downforce. The roof and hood are also carbon fiber, while the muffler and tailpipes are now titanium, shaving down the weight even more. Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors are also being offered, peeking out from lightweight 19-inch forged alloy BBS wheels.

Track Editions come standard with a red interior with red carbon trim throughout. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but production for the 2020 Lexus RC F and RC F Track Edition begins in the second quarter of 2019.
