Three history-sheeters with cases in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh against their names were arrested from Vasai in Palghar district, a senior police official said Sunday.
Palghar Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said two constables were injured when the trio attacked them during the operation in Vasai's Chinchoti area on Saturday night.
He identified the arrested men as Ashutosh Mishra (23), Deepak Mallik (18) and Shivam Tiwari (19) and said they were involved in a murder case registered at Valiv police station in Vasai in June last year.
Mishra and Tiwari are from Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh and Mallik is from Kurukshetra in Haryana.
"They were on a two-wheeler and when the police tried to intercept them, the three attacked and injured constables Sharad Patil and Amol Korhe. We managed to pin them down and arrest them," Singh said.
He said three firearms and six cartridges were seized from the trio.
He said Mishra and Mallik have cases against their names in Vasai and Tulinj in Palghar, Sagar in Madhya Pradesh and Bhadohi in UP.
