GHAZIABAD: A city-based environmentalist has complained to the forest department that at least 60 neem trees were illegally felled within the campus of Central Bureau of Investigation Academy in Ghaziabad on Thursday and Friday.

The activist, Pradeep Sunpura, claimed that the illegal felling was done by a resident on campus, but no one has so far been held responsible for it. “The neem trees were cut by someone who is employed with the academy and h/she did not take any permission from either the academy or from the forest department. We have immediately brought the matter to the notice of the forest department,” said the green activist.

Meanwhile, the district forest officer did not respond to calls to corroborate the activist’s claims.
