MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a frontal attack on BJP chief Amit Shah for his remarks that his party will thrash Sena if a pre-poll alliance doesn't work out ahead of the upcoming elections.

Thackeray said that the one who will trounce the Sena was yet to be born.

Without mentioning the Sena, Shah had recently said that if an alliance happened, the BJP will ensure victory for its allies, but if it did not, the party will beat its former allies in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Thackeray said, “I have heard words like 'patak denge' from someone. The one who can trounce the Shiv Sena is yet to be born.”

He was speaking at a public rally in the NSCI, Worli.

"We select the Vallabhbhai Patel stadium for this function because there was a time when wrestling matches used to take place here. Wrestlers would throw each other around. But there is no one who can wrestle down the Shiv Sena,” said Uddhav.

The Shiv Sena has already announced its plans to contest future election sans an alliance with the BJP. However, the BJP is insisting that the two saffron formations formalise a pre-poll tie-up Thackeray further targetted the 'Modi's wave and said that the Sena has seen many 'waves' through their journey.

Thackeray also warned the BJP of making announcements and not fulfilling them.

He said that the Sena has raised the Ram temple construction issue before the polls to “expose” those who used the issue as a poll plank and that it wasn't a poll issue for them.

“I raise the Ram mandir issue during elections only to expose others who always use it as an election plank,” the Sena chief said.

He said Modi is considered to be one of the powerful men in the world and an avatar of Lord Vishnu by his supporters... could not construct the Ram Temple. He claims the Congress is an obstacle in this. "Tell us how without being in power the Congress can stop you from building the temple, " said Thackeray.
