Indore: Despite various government schemes and programmes related to primary education of children, there are approximately 8.5 crore children between age of 5-6 who don't go to a school due to financial crises, said educators and social activists here on Saturday.
One of the speaker, professor Sandeep Desai said, "It's only in India where people run to get their children enrolled into private schools, most of the developed countries have free education and medical facilities and people opt for government facilities over private ones."
Education and health services are the two sectors that should be made free of cost, added Desai.
The conclave witnessed participation of 12 educators and social activists from across the country, who shared their experience, ideas and knowledge with the audience that comprised city-based educators.
