Curtains came down on Coimbatore Vizha here on Saturday with two key events - Art Street and open quiz.
From sand art and fabric painting to leaf painting and art works on bottles, the displays at the 100 stalls of Art Street are a treat to art lovers. The two-day event (Saturday and Sunday) on Scheme Road in Race Course area features workshops, paintings by students of the Stanes Higher Secondary School, and art works created out of waste materials. The multi-coloured arch at the entrance of the road is a favourite spot for selfies.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, conducted an open quiz for school and college students. Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan was the quiz master. The contest had five rounds on topics such as cinema, politics, and Coimbatore.
A heritage car show was held at Prozone Mall on Saturday evening, showcasing 24 cars and seven motorbikes. The vehicles displayed included Ford jeep (1958 model), Triumph Herald(1962), Volkswagon Beetle(1957), Fiat Classic(1961), Yezdi Road King, Yezdi Monarch, and Java-250cc.
Further, Atlas Pain Care Centre organised an art competition for school students at Brookefields Mall on the topic ‘Picturing Pain’. As many as 100 students took part.
The double-decker bus service has been extended for two more days because of demand, the organisers said.
