Rally will mark the beginning of Lok Sabha poll campaign in State

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit is all set to make the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi a memorable event.

During his visit scheduled on Tuesday, Mr. Modi will address a public rally and inaugurate the Kollam bypass in two separate functions. ‘‘Over-a-lakh BJP workers from the Kollam, Mavelikara and Alappuzha Parliamentary constituencies will participate in the rally and elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the event,’’ said BJP district president G. Gopinath at a press meet here on Saturday.

Mr. Modi, who will arrive from Thiruvananthapuram by helicopter, is expected to first proceed from Asramam maidan for the inauguration of Kollam bypass at 5.30 p.m. From the venue, he will go to attend the public meeting at Cantonment ground.

Security officials have already visited and reviewed arrangements at both the venues. The Prime Minister is expected to return to Thiruvananthapuram around 7 p.m. ‘‘We have assigned 500 Yuva Morcha volunteers the task of traffic management. They will ensure parking facilities at various grounds so that the city traffic remains unaffected. After the event, 100 Swach Bharat volunteers will clean the venue," said Mr. Gopinath.

Prior to the rally, blood donation camps and proclamation marches will be held in all the constituencies. ‘‘The BJP has already started election campaign in other States and this rally will mark the beginning of the campaign in Kerala. We plan to make it a historic event and hope this rally will help the party win all the three constituencies,’’ he said.
