Ocean-free pool shows off recycled ocean plastic wear

Eco-friendly tennis gear
On Thursday morning Icebergs pool was transformed into a tennis court for the launch of Adidas x Parley tennis collection.

The iconic sportswear brand unveiled the collection made from repurposed and upcycled materials created in partnership with environmental non-profit Parley for the Oceans. Parley ambassadors Jesinta Franklin, Ian Thorpe, Beau Ryan, and former no.1 retired professional tennis player Ana Ivanovic played a match in the pool as waves splashed down on them.

Tennis players such as Alexander "Sascha" Zverev, Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber will be wearing the range made from 100 per cent recycled "ocean plastic" at the Australian Open (which starts on Monday and will air on Nine). The pool was drained (as it it every Thursday for cleaning) ahead of its transformation into a tennis court, and the venue was a plastic-free zone serving coffee in paper cups sans lids.

Cinema under the stars
Sydney personalities stepped out on a balmy Tuesday evening to mark the opening of St George Open Air cinema for its 2019 season on Sydney Harbour. The season kicked off with the Australian premiere of Mary Queen of Scots, starring Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan.

It was a mixed crowd of fashion and entertainment personalities, with Sass & Bide co-founder Sarah-Jane Clarke and husband Dan Baffsky, fashion Instagrammer Aggie Goss, Ita Buttrose and Richard Wilkins all in attendance. Guests were treated to snacks by Chiswick such as beer-battered flathead fish and chips, pulled lamb shoulder with hummus, and tomato and mint salsa, all available for OpenAir Cinema goers.

Storm Boy Sydney premiere
Aussie heartthrob Jai Courtney walked the red carpet on Thursday night for the Sydney premiere of the much-anticipated remake of the classic 1976 movie Storm Boy. Fellow co-stars Trevor Jamieson and Finn Little, plus director Shawn Seet, were alongside Courtney and thrilled for audiences to watch the contemporary reimagining of the classic novel by Colin Thiele.

Undoubtedly it was 11-year-old Finn Little who stole the show; he has been praised by critics for his portrayal of a young Storm Boy. The movie also features actors David Gulpilil and Geoffrey Rush, but Rush has not been seen on the publicity tour for the film and did not attend the premiere, despite playing a central character.
