2 killed, 1 injured as bikes collide
Jan 14, 2019, 00:04 ISTTirupur: Two people were killed and another person was critically injured after two motorcycles collided with each other near Kangeyam here on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Krishnakumar, of Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district, and Subramaniam, 65, of Oonchamaram near Palayakottai Pudur. Subramaniam’s wife Chellammal, 58, is battling for life at a private hospital in Erode.
According to police, the incident took place when Krishnakumar, who was working as a driver with a blue metal quarry at Nalroad in Erode, was heading to his workplace from Muthur in Tirupur on a bike.
“When he reached Palayakottaipudur on Muthur-Nathakadaiyur road, his bike collided with another motorcycle, on which Subramaniam and his wife were returning home after visiting their granddaughter in Chennimalai,” a police officer said.
Krishnakumar and Subramaniam died on the spot, while Chellammal sustained severe injuries. She was taken to a private hospital in Erode.
