'I had no symptoms': Teenager, 19, learns he has a huge brain tumour after suffering a seizure in his sleep – and is now travelling to Thailand for radical treatment after chemo failed

A teenager who recently discovered he had a brain tumour is now travelling to Thailand to receive radical treatment after traditional methods failed.

Greg Lewis was only 18 when he suffered a seizure in his sleep while at a friend's house in April 2018.

A CT scan later revealed Mr Lewis, from Bunbury in Western Australia, had calcification on the brain - most likely due to a vein bursting when he was a child.

Further testing confirmed a brain tumour had developed as a result, and was growing rapidly.

'I had no symptoms of a brain tumour before I was diagnosed,' he told Yahoo7.

Almost a year on from the ordeal, Mr Lewis has had multiple surgeries to remove the cancer - which was 30mm in size - as well as his regular chemotherapy and radiation rounds.

'I went through 33 sessions of radiation and three rounds of chemotherapy with no success,' Mr Lewis said.

'I underwent aggressive brain surgery on the 23rd of November 2018 (a day after my 19th birthday) to remove as much of the tumour as possible.'

Despite their best efforts, another scan determined the tumour had 'significantly increased in size'.

The family have now resorted to a clinic in Thailand that combines modern medicine with traditional and natural methods to 'to fight the tumour from a number of medical and natural fronts.'

'The treatment in Thailand is envisaged to be 8 weeks in duration, and as such will be very expensive,' the family wrote on a GoFundMe page hoping to raise money to assist with expenses.

His family took to their GoFundMe page to provide an update on Mr Lewis' treatment thus far.

'So far so good, but some treatments have not been that pleasant though.'

'Greg has met some other people having treatment who have had amazing results. They have been so encouraging to Greg, making him feel really positive and confident about the treatment at this clinic.'

The page is currently at $19,000 of its $30,000 goal.
