Washington Post: Trump Hid Details of Putin Conversations

The Washington Post  reported  Saturday that President Trump has gone to "extraordinary lengths" to keep the details of his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin private.

Citing "current and former U.S. officials," the Post reports President Trump has a "pattern" of hiding those conversations from government officials and that he has, at least once, taken his interpreter's notes and told them not to discuss a conversation with administration officials.

These actions have reportedly led to a lack of details about five of the president's face-to-face communications with Putin over the last two years.

The chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Eliot Engel, said in a  tweet  after the report was released: "Every time Trump meets with Putin, the country is told nothing.

America deserves the truth and the Foreign Affairs Committee will seek to get to the bottom of it." The Post's story was released shortly after The New York Times  reported  that in 2017, the FBI launched an investigation into whether or not the president was acting on Russia's behalf.  President Trump  responded  to the Post's report during an interview with Fox News, saying: "I'm not keeping anything under wraps.

I couldn't care less.

I mean, it's so ridiculous.

These people make it up." Additional reporting from  Newsy affiliate CNN .
