Fake notes with Rs 2 lakh face value seized, two arrested

RAJKOT: The Amreli local crime branch (LCB) busted a counterfeit currency printing racket and arrested two persons from Dhari town of the district late evening on Friday.
They also seized counterfeit notes with face value of Rs 2.21lakh from the accused, identified as Dharmendra Trivedi (31), a resident of Darana village of Mendarda taluka in Junagadh and Vikram Pawar (30) a native of Dungarpur in Rajashtan.

Further investigation revealed that the accused duo used to print the notes in Dhari. Police also impounded the printing machinery.
According to police, the notes seized were copies of new currency notes issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) after demonetization in November 2016.
A statement issued by the LCB stated that they found the accused in a car with 53 notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, 96 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 212 notes of Rs 200 denomination.
Amreli LCB said that they had got specific information that a white van coming from Visavadar and heading towards Dhari was carrying some suspicious material. Based on the information, police set up check post to search vehicles on the route and found the suspicious white van in which the accused were travelling.
During search at Trivedi’s residence in Junagadh, police found some materials used to print fake currency notes like colour photocopy machine-cum-printer, ink and blank paper sheets.
