AMBALA: Traders' associations of grain markets across Haryan will observe a day's strike on January 15 and will hold a rally in Jind on Janury 23 to protest government's policy of online purchase of grains and direct payments to the farmers.

Haryana Pradesh Vyapar Mandal president Bajrang Garg told TOI that arhtiyas (commission agents) are against the government’s move.

On the other hand, the farmers have welcomed the decision of direct payment but they are opposing the ceiling on the quantity of procurement through e-trading of crops.

The government is promoting Meri Fasal, Mera Byora (MSMB) scheme under which it is working to make it compulsory for the farmers to register their crop in order to sell the produce in grain markets.
