Sahgal’s invite dropped on Maha mantri’s insistence’
Barkha Mathur | TNN | Jan 14, 2019, 03:06 ISTNAGPUR: The controversy surrounding the 92nd Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Yavatmal, which concluded on Sunday, took a fresh turn with former president of Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal Shripad Bhalchandra Joshi insisting that it was due to anti-Nayantara Sahgal posturing of the Swagatadhyaksha of the sammelan that invitation to Sahgal was withdrawn.
The chairman of reception committee was BJP MLA and district’s guardian minister Madan Yerawar. Joshi said the local organising committee of the sammelan succumbed to pressures by Yerawar. “It was Yerawar’s aide Amar Dinkar with Ramakant Kolte, working president of the sammelan, who met the president of Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh and said Yerawar won’t be there if Sahgal is coming’.”
