Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday chaired the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) meeting in which eight significant infrastructure projects, worth a total of ₹1,572 crore, were granted approval.

The projects include the construction of an integrated campus of GB Pant Engineering College and Polytechnic at Okhla, worth ₹526.66 crore and the extension of a flyover from Ashram to DND, worth ₹128.95 crore.

Reduce congestion

The project related to an integrated campus, to be executed by the Directorate of Training and Technical Education, was required to meet the increased “infrastructure requirement” on campus while the extension of the flyover, to be executed by the Public Works Department (PWD), will seek to reduce congestion at Ashram, the government said.

The Health and Family Welfare Department would execute three significant projects including the expansion of the existing bed capacity of the Dada Dev Government Hospital in Dabri from 106 to 281 at a cost of ₹53.44 crore and the remodelling of the Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela at ₹244.35 crore, the government said.

The hospital at Narela will be converted from a 200-bed facility to 773-bed facility, which will consist of 513 beds under an integrated cancer hospital and 260 beds for Maternity and Trauma Care, read a statement. The Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in Shastri Park will also see an increase in the number of beds from 339 to 560. Similarly, the Directorate of Education would undertake the construction of 1,587 classrooms across schools in the south and south-east district at a cost of ₹326.36 crore.

The redevelopment of Chandni Chowk from the Lal Jain Mandir to Fatehpuri Mosque, which consists of the development of pedestrian and non-motorised traffic facilities, will be executed at a cost of ₹65.63 crore.
