Bypoll: Digvijay richest and youngest candidate

JIND: Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) nominee Digvijay Singh Chautala is the richest and the youngest candidate in fray for Jind bypoll scheduled for January 28. He is worth Rs 11.64 crore, whereas Congress candidate Randeep Singh Surejwala is on second place with movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3.47 crore, Krishan Midha is in third place with assets of Rs 1.44 crore.
INLD nominee Umed Singh Redhu is the ‘poorest’ of the lot with assets worth on Rs 16 lakh and investment of Rs 64 lakh, as per the details given in papers by these candidates.
Interestingly, the richest and poorest candidates in the lot have one thing in common, Chautala and Redhu are both educated till Class XII.
Redhu is engaged in electrical contract work. His village Lohchab comes under the Jind constituency and he has been an active member of the INLD for years.
BJP candidate Krishan Midha is son of late INLD MLA Hari Chand Midha. After two-time MLA Hari Chand’s sudden death, the seat had fallen vacant and a month after that Krishan join BJP.
Digvijay has filed his nomination as an independent candidate as the JJP was recently launched and is still not registered. He had cleared Class XII from DPS in Delhi in 2008.
The scrutiny committee after checking the nominations papers rejected candidature of seven persons for being incomplete or improper. Thus, 27 nominations were found complete. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till January 14, 3pm. All major parties’ candidates made it.
