All Cadillacs To Get Super Cruise Semi-Autonomous System By 2020

Whether you like it or not, semi-autonomous driving systems are fast coming to vehicles in virtually all segments of the automotive market. Cadillac wishes to remain one of the leaders in these technologies and has bold plans for its Super Cruise driving assistant.

The only current Cadillac model to feature Super Cruise is the range-topping CT6 sedan. However, during the automaker’s Capital Markets Day presentation, they revealed that Super Cruise will be introduced to all models by the end of 2020.

In order to accomplish that, a plethora of updated and all-new Cadillac vehicles will arrive in the coming two years. The first of these will be the 2020 XT6 crossover that’s set to premiere at next week’s Detroit Auto Show. Over the next 24 months, Cadillac will also launch a new-generation Escalade, the CT4 small sedan, a refreshed XT5, and the CT5 sedan, designed to replace both the current ATS and CTS.

The only vehicle in Cadillac’s stable that will be retrofitted with Super Cruise is the compact XT4 crossover that was introduced in 2018.

Super Cruise is considered one of the best autonomous technologies currently available. It combines LiDAR, high-precision GPS, a driver attention system and a plethora of cameras and radar sensors to build a virtual map of the world around the vehicle. The automaker benefits greatly from the work of General Motor’s Cruise Automation business to continually improve and refine this technology.
