HYDERABAD: When Kushaiguda police nabbed one Syed Siraj Hussain, 32, in a cheating case related to sale of hired vehicles, they thought they had arrested a man. But much to their shock, while preparing the case diary Siraj revealed he is actually a woman. Siraj claimed that the entry in gender column should be female as his actual name is Shabeena Asmi, hailing from Karimnagar district.

On January 5, Kushaiguda police decided to refer Siraj to Forensic Science Department to ascertain his gender. During interrogation, Siraj voluntarily disclosed he was born a female and underwent a gender change operation three years ago in Mumbai, for which treatment is going on, Kushaiguda police told FSD. The accused Siraj alias Shabeena was arrested on January 3 along with another person. The report of forensic examiners is awaited.
