TSTransco plans replacement of conductor on four 220 KV lines till Feb. 15

The Transmission Corporation of Telangana (TSTransco) has informed that there is a possibility of interruption in power supply to some consumers in the areas where the sub-stations are fed by four 220 KV transmission lines during four periods from January 11 to February 15, as it is planning to carry out re-conductoring of lines.

Director (Transmission) of TSTransco T. Jagath Reddy stated on Tuesday that they were planning to carry out re-conductoring of 220 KV lines to Hyderabad by replacing the existing conductor with high-Ampacity high-temperature/current low-sag (HTLS) conductor. During the exercise, loads would be diverted to nearby sub-stations and some of the sub-stations would be operated radially to control overloading on other parallel lines.

The replacement of conductor that was taken up on January 11 will continue till January 31 on Mamidipally-Shivarampally line, from January 24 to 31 on Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (HIAL)-Mamidipally-I line, from February 1 to 15 on HIAL-Shivarampally line and from February 5 to 10 on HIAL-Mamidipally-II line. The exercise would help double the power transmission capacity of the lines, Mr. Jagath Reddy explained.

Although, TSTransco and Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TS-SPDCL) were taking all possible steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply, there would be possibility of interruptions in case of any contingency, he stated.
