India needs 289 runs to win the first first One Day International (ODI) against
Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Peter Handscomb top-scored for Australia with his 73-run knock while Usman Khwaja (59) and Shaun Marsh (54) also scored half-centuries. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 47.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Bhuvneshar Kumar took wickets apiece for
India.
India got an early wicket in the form of skipper Aaron Finch but the batsmen who followed next chipped in with handy contributions. Australia scored 93 runs in the last 10 overs.
Earlier in the day, Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bat first. For
Australia, left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff made his ODI debut, while right-arm pacer Peter Siddle returned to 50-over cricket after November 2010.
