Amit Shah to visit Hyderabad on January 22

HYDERABAD: BJP national president Amit Shah will visit Hyderabad on January 22 and review the reasons that led to the party’s failure in Telangana’s recently concluded state assembly elections and focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Though the party had lost in the elections by winning only one assembly seat, the party hopes to gain more seats in the upcoming LS polls

“Our party president Shah will be coming to the state on January 22 for one day tour and will hold meetings with senior party leaders, parliamentary in-charges and leaders on LS polls,” BJP Telangana president K Laxman told TOI from New Delhi on Friday. The BJP state leaders, who were attending the BJP national council meeting in New Delhi, met Shah on Thursday night and reportedly submitted a report on the Telangana assembly election results. Sources said that since the national council mainly focussed on organisational issues and their preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections, they had met the party president separately.

BJP leaders are of the opinion that the TRS government indulged in various malpractices like distribution of money and liquor apart from adopting other strategies like invoking Telangana sentiments like they had done before the 2014 elections. The party also held a review meeting on election results a couple of weeks ago which was attended by Union Minister of Helath and Telangana election incharge J P Nadda along with other state leaders and candidates.
