Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday inaugurated a slew of welfare schemes through video conference from the Secretariat.
The schemes included those to be implemented by the Municipal Administration Department, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and the Rural Development Department.
Mr. Palaniswami inaugurated drinking water schemes catering to various parts of the State at a total cost of ₹169.72 crore. While a scheme costing ₹70.50 crore was inaugurated for the Dindigul Corporation, six such schemes for Kancheepuram, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur and Theni were inaugurated at a cost of ₹79.13 crore, an official release stated.
An air-conditioned wedding hall spread over 2.44 acres in the Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore, built at a cost of ₹16.75 crore, was inaugurated by the CM.
He also inaugurated a dining area in the Arulmigu Balasubramaniaswamy temple at Somasipadi in Tiruvannamalai district, which was constructed at an outlay of ₹53 lakh.
Among the other projects unveiled was a bridge across the Palar at Edayathur in Kancheepuram district at a cost of ₹9.95 crore and an officers’ quarters in Maduravoyal at a cost of ₹6.99 crore.
The CM also laid the foundation stone for the District Rural Development Agency in Kajamalai in Tiruchi district.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Forest Minister Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, Minister for Municipal Administration S.P. Velumani, Rural Development Minister P. Benjamin, HR&CE Minister Sevvoor S. Ramachandran, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and senior officers were present on the occasion.
