NEW DELHI: A email threatening to kidnap chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s daughter was allegedly sent to the CM’s email address, which the police are now probing.

Police sources said Cyber Cell has been directed to check the source of the mail. Sources said the culprit had also sent a second mail saying that it was a prank.

The incident was reported to the Civil Lines police stations on January 9. In an official complaint, the CM’s office also attached the copies of the two emails to the police commissioner.

In the first mail, the senders claimed that they were aware about the daughter’s whereabouts and would abduct her, while the second one sent a few minutes later mentioned that it was a prank.

Following this, the security of the CM’s family was reviewed and a PSO provided for the daughter.

On the threat email, the Delhi CMO said, “Delhi government had forwarded the threat email to Delhi Police commissioner three days ago. The government has not been given any information so far by the police.”
