Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate raids on ex-MLA & brother

Representative imageKANPUR: A team comprising officials of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and income tax (IT) department conducted raids on the Govind Nagar residence and Dada Nagar factory of a former Congress MLA and his brother in the city on Friday.
Reports said teams reached Govind Nagar and Dada Nagar in the morning.
The searches were linked to allegations of money-laundering and tax evasion against the former MLA's brother. Nobody was allowed entry during the raid.
"The guards deployed at the house were asked to leave by the team of a dozen officials. Once the team entered the premises, the gates were shut and no one was allowed to enter or come out of house or factory," an official at Govind Nagar police station told TOI.
