KCR wants new sarpanches to function as agents of change

The Sarpanches, Upa-Sarpanches, who would be get elected in the ongoing elections, and the newly-recruited Panchayat Secretaries would be given orientation on the development of villages including improving greenery and sanitation and also on the new Panchayt Raj Act.

At a meeting held here on Friday, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao told the officials concerned to impart training to those village-level functionaries by involving training institutes such as Telangana Rural Development Institute, Administrative Staff College of India and Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute.

They are required to have clear understanding on the recently new Panchayat Raj Act, the Chief Minister felt and asked the officials to send sufficient number of copies of the new act to Gram Panchayats, Mandal Parishads and Zilla Parishads. It was necessary for coordinated functioning by the Sarpanches, Upa-Sarpanches and Panchayat Secretaries for holistic development of the villages.

The Chief Minister wants the new Sarpanches to function as the agents of change for the integrated development of villages. Chief Advisor to Government Rajiv Sharma, legislators Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Marri Janardhan Reddy and Kale Yadaiah, CMO Special Secretary Bhoopal Reddy and others participated in the meeting.

He, however, hinted that it would be possible to allocate full budget to Gram Panchayats immediately as the Union Government would be presenting only vote on account and the regular budget presentation would be only after the Lok Sabha elections.
