A 23-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbour after a fight broke out between them, the police said on Friday.

The accused hit Gautam Kumar’s parked two-wheeler with his mini-truck following which the duo got into a fight, they said.

On Thursday, at 8 p.m., one Indrajeet Mishra, a security guard, had come to meet his brother-in-law — Gautam — in Rana Park, when the incident happened, the police said.

Hit victim’s car

Mishra allegedly told the police that he was talking to the victim when 29-year-old Dhan Kumar alias Sanjay, a resident of the same locality, came with his mini-truck.

During investigation, Mishra said Sanjay hit Gautam’s two-wheeler and a fight ensued between the two.

Before he could seek help, Sanjay allegedly picked up a garden fork and attacked Gautam following which he sustained head injuries, a police officer said.

Gautam was rushed to Baba Sahib Ambedkar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North) Gaurav Sharma said.

Case registered

A case has been registered, he said, adding that the accused has been arrested.

The weapon used for commission of crime was also recovered, he added.

None of them was drunk at that time, the police said.
