Respect SP-BSP alliance decision; will fight LS polls with full capacity in UP: Rahul Gandhi

LUCKNOW: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that he respected the political decision of alliance + taken by Mayawati and Akhilesh , but added that his party will fight the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh with full capacity.

"BSP and SP have made a political decision. It's on us on how to strengthen the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh and we will fight with our full capacity," Rahul said in Dubai when asked about the alliance formed by Mayawati and Akhilesh for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.



Speaking to reporters, the Congress chief said: “Main unke nirnay ka samman karta hoon … Unhone soch samajh ke decision liya hoga. (I respect their decision … I am sure they would have taken the decision after evaluating the matter seriously).”



Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress Party will contest elections with all its strength in UP because they were at ideological war with the BJP.

When asked about Mayawati’s harsh attack on the Congress, Rahul said “ek prakar se congress party ke bare mein thoda galat bhi bola magar ham usko accept karenge kyonki ham pyar se rajniti karte hain … aur ham apni jagah bhi banayenge (In a way they spoke a couple of negative things about the Congress but we will accept that as we believe in politics of love and we will create our space in UP.)

Rahul said that his party had a lot to offer to the state of Uttar Pradesh.

"Congress party has tremendous to offer to the people of Uttar Pradesh. I have tremendous respect to the leaders of BSP and SP, they have a right to do what they want to do," Rahul said.

Recognising that he had the task of resurrecting Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said: “Ab Congress party ko Uttar Pradesh mein apne aap ko khada karna hai. Hamare upar hai ham kaise karein aur apni ideology ko ham Uttar Pradesh mein faila ke rahenge. (We have to revive the Congress in UP and it is up to us how we will do it. We have to spread our ideology in UP).”
