SHE Teams prove a deterrent

The technology-driven techniques of SHE Teams have brought down crimes against women drastically over the years, said Swati Lakra, IGP (Law & Order) and in charge of women safety wing.

Video proof

Explaining about the functioning of SHE Teams, which was launched to provide safety and security to women, Ms. Lakra said that on several occasions they catch the accused red-handed by videographing the offence. The team also conduct decoy operations in order to ensure a citizen and community friendly interaction.

“The number of minors who indulge in misbehaving in the State capital have come down to 12 % in 2018, as against 26 % reported in 2014-15. So far, 1,655 FIRs have been registered, of which 320 are Nirbhaya Act cases, 73 IT Act, 104 POCSO Act cases,” the IGP said. As many as 3,876 petty cases were registered against the offenders and 10,644 persons were counselled and monitored.
