PATNA: All seven allies of the Grand Alliance (GA) in Bihar on Thursday staged a joint ‘Raj Bhavan march’ here and submitted a memorandum to governor Lalji Tandon against CM Nitish Kumar for his alleged use of “undignified language” for the opposition leaders.

While submitting their joint memorandum, the GA functionaries urged the governor to issue an instruction to the CM for using dignified language for the opposition leaders.

In their memorandum, the GA leaders also demanded that the CM should apologise before the people of Bihar for his alleged use of “undignified language” against opposition leaders. They said the CM should withdraw his controversial statement that hurt the sentiments of opposition leaders.

“Tandon gave a patient hearing to our demands and said political leaders should always use dignified language for others,” RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said.

Earlier, thousands of workers of the seven opposition parties — RJD, Congress, RLSP, Loktantrik Janta Dal, HAM-S, Samajwadi Party and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) — took out a joint procession from the Income-Tax roundabout here and staged a joint march towards the Raj Bhavan to submit their memorandum to the governor.

The workers, holding placards and banners in their hands, were raising slogans against the CM, asking him to tender apology. The opposition leaders alleged that the CM, in a recent statement, referred the VIP president Mukesh Sahni as a “sadak chap (roadside)” man.

As soon as the joint procession reached near the Hartali Chowk, officials of Patna district administration stopped it from going towards the Raj Bhavan. Later, a delegation of around 20 state-level leaders, comprising two seniors from each of seven parties and some legislators, was allowed to go to the Raj Bhavan to submit their memorandum.

The prominent leaders who met the governor were RJD state president Ram Chandra Purbey, state Congress working president Shyam Sunder Singh Dheeraj, RLSP’s Satyanand Prasad Dangi, LJD senior and former minister Ramai Ram, Samajwadi Party’s state president and former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni and RJD MLAs Bhai Birendra and former minister Shiv Chandra Ram.

Earlier on Monday, leader of opposition in state assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav had asked the CM to tender apology for his alleged undignified remark against the GA leaders.
