The National Investigation Agency (NIA) police produced J. Srinivas Rao, suspect inYSRCP president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy attack case, in Family Court, which is the in-charge NIA Court, here on Friday.

The judge extended judicial remand to Srinivas till January 25, and he was shifted to Vijayawada jail.

A waiter in the restaurant in Visakhapatnam Airport, Srinivas attacked Mr. Jagan at the airport, when the latter was about to board the Hyderabad-bound flight, on October 25, last year.

Srinivas attacked the Leader of the Opposition with a knife used in rooster fight causing injury to his shoulder.

Custody petition filed

The NIA, which took over the case from the State police, filed a petition seeking custody of Mr. Srinivas. However, the NIA Court judge kept the petition pending.

Police stepped up security at the court as Mr. Srinivas was shifted to Vijayawada from Visakhapatnam jail, and produced in the NIA Court in the city.
