The number of unemployed youth in Gujarat is 4.05 lakh, say the records of labour and employment department of the state government. The statistics of education department suggests that after passing school, 1.25 lakh youth enter the market searching for a job every year.

Gujarat government on Thursday released details on the seminars to be held in labour and employment sector and education sector during Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

Additional chief secretary in labour and employment department Vipul Mitra said, "As compared to 7.80 lakh unemployed youth in Gujarat registered in 2015 with employment exchanges across the state, the number declined to 4.05 in last year. We are trying to update the courses in technical education institutions like ITIs like robotics, 3D designs and others so that youth are prepared with the skills required in the markets."

The Department of Labour and Employment is organising a seminar on 'Repositioning Indian Talent pool on a Global Frontier' on January 20, 2019, the concluding day of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. "We are also going to organise campus placements from January 28 to February 24. The employers have registered for 52 vacancies in their units," Mitra added.
