Woodlands theatre in Chennai too turned a wedding venue amidst the celebrations for the release of Petta. Anbarasan, a fan of the actor, married Kamakshi in a ceremony that was conducted by Ashok, the head of the South Chennai Rajini Makkal Mandram. Following the wedding ceremony, food was also distributed for the fans, after following which they all watched a show of the film.

Not just in the city, Rajinikanth fans in Thanjavur have taken their fandom a few notches higher. They conducted the wedding of a couple inside a movie theatre, to celebrate the release of the film Petta.

The wedding of Jothiraman and Usharani of Thanjavur district was organised at Shanthi theatre, where Petta was released amid celebrations by jubilant fans. Without stopping at just organising the wedding, the Thanjavur district unit of the Rajini Makkal Mandram also presented the couple with seervarisai (gifts) worth ₹1.5 lakh, besides handing over ₹5,000 for their “honeymoon expenses”.

The Mandram decided to celebrate the release of the film in a different way by organising a wedding for a poor couple.

“We felt immensely happy about organising the wedding on the occasion of the release of Petta,” said Rajini Ganesan, president of Thanjavur district unit of the Mandram.
