A huge 3.2metre bull shark has been corralled by fishermen off the coast of a popular Sydney beach.

Their reeling in of the dangerous breed follows another bull shark being spotted inside a swimming net two beaches away just days earlier.

The group spent three hours pulling in the shark in the early hours of Friday morning at Dolls Point before one of them posed with their giant catch on the beach.

Their haul, reported by Channel 7, comes after a 2.5metre bull shark was spotted swimming inside a netted-off area at Lady Robinson's Beach at Brighton Le Sands on Tuesday evening.

Children were among those in the water when the bull shark was sighted by shocked swimmers.

Incredible photos and footage of the shark were posted on social media by witnesses and the local council decided to close the beach for at least 24 hours.

The company responsible for inspecting and maintaining the nets said they went to the beach on Wednesday and found a small hole, although experts doubt a shark of that size could have got through the net.

The council posted photos of 'Operation Sharkie', which shows workers on the beach, in the water and on boats attending to the net.

The hole was scheduled to be repaired on Wednesday morning, with the damaged section due to be taken away for forensic testing.
