Assailants suspected to have fled to Rajasthan using internal roads

Rajkot: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of BJP leader Jayanti Bhanushali suspect that there were three people involved in the killing and at least one of them was well versed with the geography of the area.
The assailants managed to skip all the toll plazas and CCTVs. It is suspected that they have escaped towards Rajasthan using some internal roads and shortcuts.

According to sources the perpetrators selected the location of murder between Kataria and Surajbari railway stations after doing a proper recce. They pulled the chain around 800 m to 1,000 m after Samakhiyali toll plaza. There were two persons involved in shooting Bhanushali while third person was outside the train in a car. The highway runs parallel to the railway track.

Sources in SIT said that they deboarded the train after pulling the chain and went to the car waiting for them outside on the road. They didn’t go towards Rajkot or Radhanpur because there is a toll plaza with CCTVs on both the roads.

Sources said they went towards Rapar road and from there, they took the road to Aadesar. The team also recovered a bag they had thrown on that road which further led investigators to belive that they went to Bhimasar later. “Anybody driving a car would throw a bag on his left side, which shows that they escaped towards Bhimasar,” an officer involved in the probe said.

According to police, they took this road to skip Makhel toll plaza on Samakhiyali-Radhanpur road. Thereafter, the perpetrators took Bhimasar shortcut towards Varai on Bhutakia road and they went towards Rajasthan.

“At least one of them was a local Kutchi who had perfect knowledge of the geography to avoid all the toll plaza and main road,” the officer said .
