New Mercedes-Benz CLA Will Soon Get A Shooting Brake Body And It Should Look Like This

The second-gen Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is happening and it’s only a few months away, with some sources claiming that it could be unveiled as early as the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Building upon its predecessor, the stylish estate will be underpinned by the same platform as the rest of the brand’s modern compact cars. This will give it a slightly larger footprint and a bit more room inside.

Speaking of which, we already know what to expect in terms of interior design, as the 2020 CLA Coupe was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. It gets the MBUX infotainment system with the dual-screen display, available in three different sizes. The design, as you’d imagine, is identical to that of its hatchback A-Class sibling.

The exterior won’t offer any surprises either. Up to the B pillars, it will look the same as the four-door CLA, similar to XTomi’s rendering pictured here. A sloping roofline, a clean tailgate design and more space in the boot compared to the Coupe are among the highlights.

The engine lineup will come straight from the 2019 A-Class and will include a selection of petrol and diesel units, depending on each market. Manual and automatic transmissions will be offered, along with an available 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Mercedes-AMG will likely keep the 45 grade, powered by the 2.0-liter turbo-four, making more than 400 horsepower. And for the first time, the CLA Shooting Brake might gain the 35 variant as well, with the force-fed four-banger delivering 302 hp.
