VISAKHAPATNAM: The 930-year-old Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam in the city doesn’t have signboards in Hindi despite having the national importance and devotees across various states of the country. Starting from the Simhachalam temple’s bus stop at the foothill, one can find no signboards in the Hindi.
At present, the temple has signboards written in Telugu, English and Odiya. The temple gave the importance to Odiya language, but ignored Hindi, devotees alleged.
On an average, 14,000 devotees across the globe, including all the states, visit the temple daily. Nearly 40% of the devotees are non-locals, the temple sources said. “I wonder why there is no signboard in Hindi in the temple. I don’t know Telugu and English, how can I find my way here,” questioned Prasanna Pandey, a tourist from UP. Simhachalam Devasthanam assistant EO RVS Prasad said they would think about putting up signboards in the Hindi too.
