NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man died after being hit with an iron rod by a neighbour over a parking row in outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli on Thursday. The victim was parking his two-wheeler when it brushed against the neighbour’s truck, which sparked an argument.

The accused was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim’s family.

DCP (outer-north) Gaurav Sharma said a murder case has been registered after the witnesses claimed that a fight had resulted in the injuries leading to the victim, Indrajeet Mishra’s, death.

The argument started around 8pm, when Mishra, who worked as a security guard in north Delhi, visited his sister’s house in Rana Park. His family told the cops that he had stepped out of the house to leave when he spotted his brother-in-law, Gautam, and stopped to talk. While he was seated on the bike and was chatting, Dhan Kumar came with his mini truck and honked for a pass.

Mishra, on seeing the truck, titled his bike to give way. However, while the truck was passing, it brushed against the bike, which then sparked an argument between the two. Police said Kumar, found an iron rod lying outside a house nearby and, in a fit of rage, hit Mishra on the head.

Mishra was rushed to a hospital, however, died during the treatment. Meanwhile, the neighbours caught Kumar and informed the police. A case of attempt to murder was initially registered on Gautam’s statement and Kumar was arrested.
