Cape Town – It’s a five-star weekend at local cinemas with the release of three outstanding new films that you absolutely have to watch.
Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet star as father and son in a devastatingly beautiful drama, Robert Redford delivers an enjoyable performance in what may be his final appearance in front of the camera, and Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal pair up for a deeply moving story about a family in crisis.

Movie: The Old Man & the Gun
Our rating: 4/5
Short review: The Old Man & the Gun is a perfectly enjoyable, if slow-moving, heist dramedy that becomes so much more if it is indeed intended to be the great Robert Redford’s final film before his well-earned retirement from an artform that he helped shape over the past half-century.
Movie: Wildlife
Short review: Wildlife is composed with such elegance and empathy that it actually feels like a novel with its keen sense of time and place and characters as rich as the Montana landscape.
