Two students from Zimbabwe caught with 146 liquor bottles in Pardi

Surat: Police arrested two nationals from Zimbabwe after a chase and seized liquor bottles worth Rs88,000 from their car in Pardi of Valsad district on Friday.

Brighten Robson Chikvira, 24, and Thandeka Chiyafisha Jungwana, 21, who are students of a private university in Vadodara, were produced in a court which sent them to judicial custody. The duo live in a residential colony on Ajwa Road in Vadodara.


The duo told police that they were friends and had gone to Daman from where they had purchased 146 bottles of liquor worth Rs88,000 for their consumption. The duo requested that they be released as they had examination in their college.


A police officer from Pardi said, “The duo was in Daman for the past five days. They had purchased liquor bottles from different shops for a party in Vadodara. The liquor bottles have been seized along with the car. The two nationals from Zimbabwe were produced in the court which sent them to judicial custody.”
